*** Please note: this page is a work in progress and far from complete. ***

I have been working with The University of Queensland since mid-1996. In this time, I have undertaken work encompassing almost every facet of IT and Engineering. My IT roles have ranged from user support, through MySQL/Oracle database design, implementation and ongoing management, development of WWW applications to implementation of Rapid Imaging Systems for Undergraduate laboratories and overall maintenance of Linux, Solaris and OpenBSD servers.

My role as IT Infrastructure Group Manager (formerly Systems Programming Manager) in ITEE has permitted me to gain hands-on experience, as I performed behind-the-scenes work on many projects. Some of these have semi-publically visible results, including the ITEE Innovation Expo Student Project Pages (specifically, I developed the Student Project Publishing System), and the complete implementation of the ITEE Online Assignment Submission Service.

From my first experience using Intel 8031s to crunch numbers, producing glorious images of the Mandelbrot Set in the late '80s (using a design published in Circuit Cellar), I have had a keen interest in Embedded Computing technologies. This ultimately led to my choosing to implement a single board computer providing NTP services for my Engineering Honours Thesis. The thesis document is entitled "GUTSI - A GPS-based Time Source for the Internet" and is available for download in PDF format.

Since completing my undergraduate degree in 1999, I have undertaken numerous projects both within and external to the University, both to keep my skills up and provide myself with a challenging working life.
